OUR PARISH
WHO WE ARE
St. Thomas More University Parish began as a dream in 1939 to be a Catholic Parish intentionally serving the BGSU community. That dream became a reality 20 years later as a chapel became a church built by students for the students. Today, St. Tom's provides and supports an array of ministries, and continues to look toward the future of serving the BGSU community.

FINGERPRINTS ON THE ROOF
A poem by Anthony J. D'Ermes, a student who helped construct the church grounds
We were young students-filled with dreams
Our work seemed overwhelming.
We hammered, poured concrete, laid floor tile,
And bricks and cement blocks. In the
Dead of winter our hands
And knees seemed frozen.
Our legs and arms stiff from
Work we had never done.
In summer, sweat rolled off of us.
The altar, the statues,
And paintings created by students.
The baton was passed to new generations of
Students filled with the same
Dreams for a chapel, to serve
Students even yet unborn.
The cause was just. The memories have endured.
The work goes on,
And the students come.
Now in the twilight of our years, we gaze back,
With unspeakable joy and glorious
Memories of that simple chapel.
A stead parade of students
Will be blessed upon entering
It to share in the
Miracle of the Holy Eucharist.
There is such comfort in knowing that our
Fingerprints are truly on the roof.
